I would recommend this to anyone. The all metal body is great & price is excellent too. We bought two of these switches to replace the Linksys switches which kept dying. We have been using them for over 6 months and never had an issue.
It would be FAR better to locate activity indicator lights on both sides of the housing. This unit includes a comparatively small, lightweight remote power supply integrated with an ordinary 2 pole electrical connector. This is a very compact, solid unit, but has a detail which I find particularly irritating, the location of the power connection. The activity lights are located directly alongside each I/O connector, so it is obviously intended to be "front wired". Still, for 7.5VA output it could be smaller, and in my installation the "plug" of course would be better if it were oriented differently.Time alone will tell how durable and reliable the unit it, but it certainly is a mechanically solid unit. The longer axis of the power supply is at right angles to the longer axis of a duplex receptacle. Yet someone felt that having the power connection on the side opposite all other connections was just fine. Do you like wiring connections on both the front and back of your electronic (or other) appliances.
I have both internal and Internet access and there's no noticeable difference in speed. There's no warm electric smell and the box is cool to the touch. I have a Linksys 4 wired port/2 wireless connection router and needed to add additional wired computers to my home network. Some reviews have said it runs hot, but I haven't noticed that at all. I highly recommend this unit. This switch was very inexpensive compared to other choices. Installation was easy - I just plugged one connection into my router and connected the remaining computers and it was good to go.
I am very happy with this product. To set up this switch required just plugging in and it worked. Since I've installed it, I have not had to touch it once.
They are solid reliable and work in all conditions. We now use nothing other than Netgear switches for all our small-mid sized networking requirements.
